The Hickory YMCA Adult Aquatic program celebrates its 3rd anniversary and congratulates the following members on their most recent accomplishments.

2012 USMS National Championships – Short Course

8 swimmers represented YSST at Nationals and everyone had great swims and most earned medals for their effort.Congratulations to Mary Ellen Stephens, Heather Mills, Kiran Harrill, Tom McGuire, Jody Inglefield, Patrick VanMeter, Jill Vanderfleet-Scott and Rob Scott.

 

2012 USMS One Mile Open Water National Champioinship

6 swimmers represented YSST at this event including Mark Davis, Jane Bynon Patrick VanMeter, Kiran Harrill, Jill Vanderfleet-Scott and Rob Scott.

 

Triathlons/Ironmen Competitions

Numerous swimmers also competed in various triathlons during 2012, including full Ironman and half Ironman competitions.

 

 

This program offers organized (coached) swim practices for all abilities. If you can swim twelve lengths of the indoor pool in the crawl stroke, or you are training for a triathlon, or you are a more accomplished fitness swimmer, we invite you to join us.

Workout times:        Hickory Foundation YMCA

     M, W & F - 5:30-6:45am

     Tu & Th - 12:00-1:00pm

     Tu & Th - 6:30 - 7:30am (Technique specific)

        Tu & Th - 9:00 - 10:00 am

      Sat - 6:45 - 8:00 am

Personal sessions will be available at an additional cost.

Workouts are coached by Rob Scott, a long time masters swimmer and coach. Rob has had numerous top 10 finishes in his age group at national level competitions. He is also a long time ASCA certified coach and was a head age group swimming coach in Indiana and California.

The first practice is free. After that the cost is $35/month for members of the YMCA or $50/month for program participants. There is also a once a year membership fee to USMS ($35) which includes access to online coaching at www.usms.org, subscription to Swimmer magazine, opportunity to participate in USMS workouts across the country, e-newsletter, additional insurance coverage, sponsor discounts and more.
